Tomsk drug for COVID-19 therapy may appear on the market in 2023
Tomsk OOO Grand plans in 2023 to bring to the market an innovative drug for COVID-19 therapy, which will reduce the risk of complications in patients, in particular, will avoid the development of the heavy form of pneumonia, company director Sergey Stankevich told RIA Tomsk.
Earlier it was reported that the project of the innovative drug for therapy of the COVID-19 of the Tomsk company OOO Grand took the first place at the regional stage of the Startup Tour-2021 contest. The winners received a cash prize of 300 thousand rubles. It was also reported that in the Tomsk region from the beginning of the pandemic and on May 3, 32,196 cases of infection with a new coronavirus infection were registered, 32,205 people recovered, 401 died.
According to Stankevich, high mortality from COVID-19 is largely associated with a severe inflammatory response of the body due to the bradykinin storm: after penetrating the virus into cells in the lungs and vessels, bradykinin is accumulated - peptide, expanding blood vessels and reduced blood pressure.
The agency's interlocutor added that the drug received a Russian patent, and now the patents are being granted to the key foreign markets: USA, EU countries, China, Japan and others. The project already has an investor – the Russian pharmaceutical manufacturer AO Organika.
