Siberian State Medical University (SSMU), according to the results of examination of independent IAAR agency, for the first time received international accreditation of educational programs for 5 years and became the third medical university in Russia, having such accreditation.


It is noted that the international institutional accreditation of the university activities and educational programs takes place in accordance with international accreditation standards of World Federation for Medical Education (WFME). Accreditation of SSMU was conducted by an Independent Agency for Accreditation and Rating (IAAR).
 
"Siberian State Medical University for the first time received international institutional accreditation of educational activities for 5 years. Only two universities in Russia - in Moscow and Kazan - have such accreditation," the university said.
 
It took SSMU eight months to receive IAAR international accreditation. During the first stage, the university independently prepared a report on its activities according to nine standards of international education and documented its achievements. The second stage was an online examination of the university's activities by a commission of external experts.
 
"Accreditation confirms the quality of education at the university at the international level, which will contribute to the development of medical education exports. In addition, it is important for students who plan to work or continue their studies abroad. International accreditation will allow SSMU to strengthen itself in the international market of educational services," the press service quotes the university's Rector Evgeny Kulikov.
 
Expert commission of the Independent Agency for Accreditation and Rating (IAAR) highly appreciated the quality of educational programs, qualification of faculty, infrastructure of the university, emphasizes the report.
